Getting started
- What is Decide, and who is it for?
Decide helps you protect time for what matters to you — work, family, sleep — by setting aside the specific apps that can wait, on your own iPhone, for as long as you choose.
- How do I set up an area?
Open an area from Home, choose the apps that can wait under What can wait, then protect it now or add times under When it matters.
- How do I choose the apps that can wait?
In an area, under What can wait, tap Choose apps and select the specific apps in Apple’s Screen Time list. Decide protects individual apps, not whole categories.
- Why does Decide need Screen Time permission?
Screen Time permission is what lets Decide set aside the apps you choose, on this iPhone. Without it Decide can’t shield apps; you can still set everything up and allow it later.
Protection
- How do I start protection now?
Open an area, choose how long under Protect now — 30 minutes, 1 hour, until a time you pick, or no end time — and tap Begin.
- How do I end protection?
On Home, tap End protection, then End this protection. Ending a scheduled time ends that period only; the next one starts as usual.
- How do I stop all protection?
Open Settings (the gear on Home) and tap Stop all protection. It is designed to remove every restriction Decide has applied and keeps your areas, apps and times. Check Home afterwards; if an app is still blocked, follow the troubleshooting steps.
Scheduling
- How do I schedule protection, once or every week?
In an area, under When it matters, tap Add time. Choose Once (a date) or Repeats (days of the week), set when it starts and ends, and tap Save. Decide protects that time even when the app is closed.
- What happens when two areas’ times meet?
Only one area is protected at a time. Decide won’t save scheduled times that overlap, so this only happens when you protect an area by hand and another area’s scheduled time begins: that area waits.
Mini Break
- How do I take a Mini Break?
While protection is on, tap Take a Mini Break, choose one of the protected apps and pick 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Everything else stays protected, and the app is protected again by itself when the time is up.
- Why can’t I take a Mini Break?
A Mini Break needs an area that is protecting now, protection Decide has confirmed, Decide unlocked, no other Mini Break in progress, and apps chosen one by one.
Plans and purchases
- What do Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime include?
All three plans unlock the same Decide. Setting up is free; starting protection needs a plan. Monthly and Yearly renew automatically until you cancel; Lifetime is one payment, with no subscription.
- How do I restore a purchase?
Decide checks your purchases with Apple each time it opens, so after reinstalling it usually unlocks by itself. If it doesn’t, tap Restore Purchases in Settings, signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy.
- Why is Decide asking me to unlock it?
Decide shows Unlock Decide when Apple answers that this Apple Account has no active plan: a subscription ended, the purchase was made with another Apple Account, or Apple hasn’t yet caught up with a purchase.
Troubleshooting and privacy
- What happens if I turn off Screen Time permission for Decide?
Without Screen Time permission, Decide stops applying protection and no longer shows Protection is on. Your areas, apps and times are kept, and allowing the permission again brings them back into use.
- An app is still blocked, or End doesn’t respond. What can I do?
Check what Home says is protected, and end it, or use Stop all protection in Settings. If a button doesn’t respond, close Decide and open it again: your areas, apps and times are kept.
- What can Decide see, and where is my data?
Decide has no account and collects nothing. Your areas, selections and times are stored on your iPhone, and Decide can see how many apps you chose, never which ones.
- Which iPhones work with Decide, and how do I contact support?
